The Senate debates today the project so that the IMF debt is paid with flight capital

The proposal presented by the ruling party so that the debt with the IMF (International Monetary Fund) is paid with flight capital will be discussed in a third session in the Senate.

Parliament is expected to give the proposal half sanction, which would approve the creation of a National Fund for the cancellation of the debt with the IMFsince currently organism he is owed $44 million.

This mechanism would be constituted in foreign currency, US dollars and its resources; however, the proposal to pay off the loan with the IMF does not have the support of Together for Change.

This, since the opposition describes the initiative as “a new money laundering” and ensures that, at present, there are already mechanisms to combat capital flight in the country.

The debt was assumed during the government of Mauricio Macri.

If approved, the Fund would be administered by the Ministry of Economy and the supervision will be carried out by the Permanent Bicameral Commission for Follow-up and Control of the Management of Contracting and Payment of the Foreign Debt of the Congress.

The senators were summoned to a session at 2:00 p.m. to discuss, in addition to the ruling party’s proposal, other draft Declarations in homage to the Malvinas deed, on the 40th anniversary of the war in the South Atlantic.

This month the IMF will make the first review of the program that was signed.

The meeting will be headed by the interim president, Claudia Ledesma Abdala de Zamora, since Vice President Cristina Kirchner is in charge of the Government House while President Alberto Fernández returns from Europe.

For the project to have half sanction, the ruling party needs 37 votes before being sent to Deputieswhere they will also have to discuss the proposal on the payment of the debt to the organism.

If the project obtains half a sanction, it will go to Deputies.

Under this line, the Front of All would have 35 senators of their own who would vote in favor of the measure, to which Alberto Weretilneck and Magdalena Solari Quintana would be added, which would reach the required vote.
