The national security strategy has given results, asserted the head of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Rosa Icela Rodríguez. While President Andrés Manuel López Obrador expressed his satisfaction because progress is being made in this matter that is so delicate and at the same time so important: that of guaranteeing peace and tranquility in our country.

The official stressed that as part of the actions against violence, so far this six-year term the federal government has responded to requests to change state prisons to others with greater security for dangerous inmates.

In order to maintain the governance of prisons, we have responded to transfer requests from 30 local governments. During this administration, 8,740 movements of persons deprived of liberty have been made, from state centers to federal centers, 4,058 of which were carried out in 2022.

In common law crimes, he said, intentional homicide had a 14.2 percent lower incidence so far in the current administration; femicide, 23.8 less; kidnapping, 69.2; theft in general, 20.4; vehicle theft, 40.5, and transportation theft, 6.3 percent. In the data presented by the official, extortion is the only crime that is on the rise in this government, with 18.2 percent.

For his part, the Secretary of the Navy reported that during 2022 the institution under his charge seized more than 1,253 tons of chemical precursors for the production of synthetic drugs, including fentanyl.

As part of the national security strategy, he added, the arrest of 5,321 alleged lawbreakers was achieved, whom at no time has human rights been violated.

Meanwhile, the head of the Sedena explained that last year, thanks to the intelligence work of the Mexican State, 542 were arrested relevant people that are located as generators of violence.
