Each organism of Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRM)) requiring universal suffrage must have a representation of no less than ten percent of young people between the ages of 18 and 35.
This is established by the new statutes of the political organization approved during its National Convention.
At least ten percent of the candidates for popularly elected positions will have to be young, according to the new guidelines of José Francisco Peña Gómez’s party.
Regarding gender representation, article 155 of the statutes establishes that in the organizations in which the members are elected within the party, none of the genders will have less than 40% or more than 60%, equal for candidates for elected positions.
The old statutes they contained 17 chapters and 137 articles. The new ones contain a preamble, 21 chapters, 180 articles and two final provisions.
Article 157 on Authorization for Acceptance of Public Charges indicates that in order for a party leader or militant to hold a non-party government position, he or she must have the approval of the Executive Directorate of said political organization or could be subject to a disciplinary trial.

The statutes provide for the creation of the School of Political Training and Public Management “Professor Yvelisse Prats Ramírez”, which will implement the party’s political education system.
The direction of this school will be in charge of the National Secretary of Education of the party. Of the public financing that the party receives each year, ten percent will be used to finance said school.
Regarding occupying several positions at the same time, the statutes establish, in its article 165, that “no leader may simultaneously occupy more than two leadership positions in the party”.
They also refer to the incompatibility of leadership and elective positions, highlighting that the president and general secretary of said political organization They may not aspire, even if they have previously resigned, to the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the Republic, before completing the mandate for which they were elected.
The statutes enter into force the day after their approval in the Ordinary National Convention.

In its article 150, the statutes prohibit the promotion of aspirations to positions of popular election within the party outside the terms established by law, the resolutions of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) and the party’s statutes.
Diaspora
The new guidelines of PRM establish that there will be Chapters abroad to promote the political participation of naturalized Dominicans in the United States, Europe and other continents.
Regarding the programming of electoral work abroad, the party will have commands of electoral precinct, electoral college committee and nucleus of voters.
The statutes were put into circulation during the XX Ordinary National Convention. The Vice President and former President of the Statutory Reform Commission, Eddy Olivares, presented a summary of the document, and the president of the political organization, José Ignacio Paliza, formally put into circulation.
During the activity, held at the National Library, the conference “Progressive parties facing the international scene” was presented, given by Heraldo Benjamín Muñoz Valenzuela, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile.
