The project that seeks to defend users from airline abuse

Defend users from “abuses” by airlines. That is the main objective of the bill that was filed, in the Congress of the Republic, by the representative to the Chamber Hernán Cadavid, of the Democratic Center.

(See: Low-cost airlines operating in Colombia: this is what they offer).

As announced, the idea is to expand the regulation against “Headaches” originated by the airlines that operate in the country in terms of waiting times, delays and unjustified flight cancellations.

It seeks to protect, promote and guarantee the effectiveness and free exercise of the rights of users of commercial air transport services as a weak part of this business chain.“Cadavid assured.

(See: The prices of Arajet flights from Colombia to the Caribbean).

If the project materializes, what would apply, among other regulations, would be:

– Legal sanctions when the flight is made and the service is denied to a user.

(See: Avianca and Viva asked the Civil Aeronautics for their integration).

– Regulate the service of the ‘call center’.

– Determine the maximum amounts that airlines can retain for reissuing tickets within their validity.

– Retentions in case of withdrawal, refunds and withdrawal.

(See: The airline that asks its executives to work as baggage handlers).

This law would be applied in general to all consumer relationships and to the liability of companies that offer commercial air passenger public transport services to the user.Cadavid explained.
