President Alberto Fernandez issued this Thursday the arbitral award requested by the province of Mendoza for the controversy that arose within the Colorado River Interjurisdictional Committee (Coirco) and ratified the need to carry out a Regional and Comprehensive Environmental Impact Study on the entire Colorado River basin as a condition to approve the construction of the work “Wind Gate“.
The measure was given in accordance with the provisions of the previous arbitration award, issued on January 16, 2018 by former President Mauricio Macri, reported the Ministry of the Interior.
In addition, the president instructed the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Water Policy of the Ministry of Public Works to collaborate with Coirco in the preparation of the necessary technical-administrative procedures and the terms of reference for carrying out the project. Environment Effect investigationwhich must be carried out within a period of 60 days.
Buenos Aires, Río Negro, Neuquén and La Pampa, four of the five provinces that make up Coirco together with Mendoza, requested during the meeting of the Governing Council of the Committee to carry out this comprehensive environmental study to approve the work.
