President Alberto Fernández announced the “reinforcement of federal forces until reaching 1,400 available troops” in a first stage for Rosario and the participation of the Army, through the company Ingenieros, to “the urbanization of popular neighborhoods” of that city of Santa Fe hit by drug trafficking.
“Rosario needs us. I know that her security forces are insufficient to face the solution of the problem”the President maintained in a recorded message from the Olivos residence, in which he announced a series of measures for the city.
First, it announced that it had “the reinforcement of the federal forces until reaching at this stage the 1400 troops available for the city of Rosario” and announced that the Minister of Security, Aníbal Fernández, “will be in the city tomorrow putting this reinforcement into operation”.
Then, he announced that the Argentine Army, through its Company of Engineers, “will participate in the urbanization of poor neighborhoods, accelerating tasks pending execution.”
“They are the Armed Forces of our democracy. In the exemplary way in which they acted in the pandemic and in the fires, they will now do so with the same honesty, skill and conviction, in aid of a citizenry that needs them. These are subsidiary tasks contemplated in the National Defense Law,” the president asserted.
He also announced that this Wednesday the governor of Santa Fe, Omar Perotti, “will sign the agreement with the FIU (Financial Information Unit) to set up a branch in Rosario”, in order to “have greater efficiency in the fight against money laundering of assets, derived among other causes, from drug trafficking”.
The President also recalled that the national government has already signed with the province of Santa Fe “the Renaper Collaboration and Technical Cooperation Agreement that will allow the validation of identities through the Secure Identification System quickly and quickly in security operations.”
“We will also quickly add 600 state-of-the-art facial recognition surveillance cameras for the city of Rosario”the president pointed out.
Finally, Fernández said that “the prison system will take extreme custody against inmates who have been sentenced and intend from the same prison to continue controlling their criminal objectives.”
