The Presidency of the Republic clarified to the public that Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo Jaén has not scheduled any meeting with the teachers’ leadership or with any other representative of the groups protesting in the country.
Likewise, it reiterates that the National Government called for a dialogue between representatives of the Executive body and leaders of the National Alliance for the Rights of the Organized People (Anadepo) and other organizations, in a High-Level Working Group, however, representatives of Anadepo got up from the table, barely an hour and a half after starting.
“Concerned by the scenario that is taking place throughout the country, we make a new call so that we do not allow political and partisan interests to attack the true and urgent needs of thousands of Panamanians,” reads part of the statement sent by the Presidency.
It should be noted that earlier hours, the teacher’s leader, Diógenes Sánchez, revealed on Radio Panama’s “Panamá Hoy” morning newscast that Marco Andrade, a member of the Association of Teachers of Panama (Asoprof), had received a direct call from the vice president Carrizo to summon them this Friday morning to a dialogue table. He in turn reported that the exact time and place were unknown.
