The PLD is concerned about works carried out by the Government in Santiago

The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), through the Secretary of Public Works of that organization, expressed this Wednesday his concern about the lack of planning that, he says, the Central Government has in the construction of works in the province Santiago.

Olgo Fernández, secretary of said agency of the opposition party, questioned that workers in charge of the expansion of the Duarte highway, Cibao airport section, removed part of the asphalt layer six months after it had been placed.

He pointed out that the multiple interventions that are being carried out on that same land communication route, “without adequate signaling, without care for road safety, have resulted in the loss of at least thirteen irreplaceable, invaluable human lives and, furthermore, the consequent economic cost derived from circulation difficulties due to poor organization”.

It also says that the population is unaware of the budget allocated for the execution of this work.

Fernández understands that the Monorail and the Cable Car were designed with limitations and inadequate routes, “which, instead of solving the transportation problem in the historic center of SantiagoIt will make it worse.”

He recalled that the same approach was made by the technical director of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in SantiagoIrving Vargas.

The leader of the Dominican Liberation Party asked the Central Government to facilitate the design of the intervention that is being carried out on the La Vega-Jarabacoa highway, from the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Altagracia to the Parador Corazón de Jesús.

He explained that the topography of the area limits the alternatives that can be made specifically in this section, so a wrong approach could worsen the current problem.

“We want to understand its technical justification, since increasing road capacity for limited sections, instead of contributing to improving congestion, mobility and road safety, produce bottlenecks and sections with a high concentration of accidents,” he said.

Olgo Fernández criticized the slowness with which he affirms that the construction works of 1,200 apartments in Hato del Yaque are progressing.

The person in charge of the Secretary of Public Works of the PLD asks what has happened to the expansion work on a section of the Luperón highway, as well as the construction of highways Santiago-Drum, Santiago-Licey, the Ámbar highway, the Navarrete ring road, and others, that President Luis Abinader gave the first sting for his executions.

Graduated in Social Communication from the O&M University, he has more than a decade of journalistic practice. Proud father of Lía and Eva.
