The Piña Colada Festival returns to Ciego de Ávila

After not being held for two consecutive years due to the COVID pandemic, the Piña Colada Fusion Music Festival returns from today until July 10 to Ciego de Ávila with the aim of reaching the most remote communities and educational centers.

The event, organized by the musician Arnaldo Rodríguez, the direction of Culture of Ciego, Mambo Producciones and the MUSICUBA/EGREM Agency, has the peculiarity of being held for the first time in the month of July.

Roberto Jiménez González, deputy director of Culture in the province, said that the Piña Colada Festival is one of the most anticipated events by the Avilanian public as it brings together different genres, styles and musical movements.

The communities of El Algarrobo, Aeropuerto, Framboyán, Camino de Jiquí, Jicotea, Ceballos and Vicente will host several presentations. Its inhabitants will be able to exchange with actors from the popular Cuban television programs.

The IPVCE Cándido González, the basic secondary schools, the Raúl Corrales pedagogical school and the University of Medical Sciences will host dialogues and concerts with the concurrent artists, with the aim of promoting the consumption of Cuban music among the youngest.

Among the guests are recognized voices of the national staff such as Raúl Paz, Polito Ibáñez, David Blanco, Adalberto Álvarez y su Son, the Iris Duo, Toques del Río, El Niño y la Verdad and the Latin Charanga.

The coronavirus postpones the “Piña Colada” Festival in Ciego de Ávila

Dayani Gutiérrez, Fábula, Gape, Youmel Sánchez, Daniel Yamilk, Intermezzo Orchestra, Rumbávila with Osaín del Monte and Motivos Personales, will have spaces within the festival’s program.

The main venue of the event will be the Plaza Máximo Gómez. The presentations will alternate on stages such as the Patio de Artex, the José Martí park, the headquarters of the Hermanos Saíz Association, the El Mulato patio, the Cabaret Bohemio and the Pin Pon.

This fusion music festival will be inaugurated with the “Latir Avileño” parade, where cultural projects, artistic companies, members of the José Martí Brigade, the Hermanos Saiz Association, amateur and professional artists will meet.

At the end of the parade there will be a concert by Arnaldo Rodríguez and his talisman, who celebrate twenty years of his musical work.

The Piña nights will be characterized by the mixture of different musical genres such as pop rock, alternative music, new trova, song, electronic music and a tribute to maestro Adalberto Álvarez starring talented young creators.
