The Participation Council is left without General Secretary

Ángel Oviedo Caicedo resigns nine days after the departure of the entity’s Legal Counsel, Hugo Icaza, who denounced arbitrary actions by the directors.

This Friday, November 5, 2021, by means of a letter sent to the authorities of the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control (CPCCS), I quit the General secretary from the body, Ángel Oviedo, who had been in office since July 13.

The former official argued personal reasons, specifically health reasons to justify his decision. «I hereby express my gratitude to each and every one of the CPCCS advisers (…) and, in a special way to you, Madam President, Ing. Sofía Almeida Fuentes, who has given me all the support in these delicate and arduous functions, “he said in the letter.

This event occurs nine days after the resignation of the legal adviser from the same institution, Hugo Icaza Valencia. The latter, on the other hand, argued that his departure occurred because, despite his recommendations in the legal reports, “some of the decisions were adopted by the CPCCS arbitrarily and selfishly without thinking about the interests of the nation ”.
