Anac publishes the draft notice for the 7th round of airport concessions

The only company to present a proposal, Aena takes Congonhas Airport

Aena won the most anticipated block in the auction of the seventh round of the airport concessions program, which included among the assets the Congonhas Airport, located in the south of São Paulo, the second busiest in the country. Aena already holds the concession for six airports in the Northeast Region, including those in Maceió and Recife. The concession is for 30 years.

The Spanish company acquired the entire SP-MS-PA-MG block, which, in addition to Congonhas, includes the airports of Campo Grande, Corumbá and Ponta Porã, in Mato Grosso do Sul; Santarém, Marabá, Parauapebas and Altamira, in Pará; and Uberlândia, Uberaba and Montes Claros, in Minas Gerais. The amount offered was R$ 2.45 billion, which meant a premium of 231.02% over the reference value established in the public notice.

There was no competition in the auction for this block, for which only Aena made a bid.

According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), Brazil’s airport concession program had already transferred 77.5% of national traffic to the private sector between 2011 and 2021. With the seventh round, this percentage should now reach 91 .6% of passengers served at airports granted in the country. The only company to present a proposal, Aena takes Congonhas Airport

Other blocks

Two more blocks were auctioned this afternoon at B3, the São Paulo stock exchange. The General Aviation Block, formed by the airports of Campo de Marte, in São Paulo, and Jacarepaguá, in Rio de Janeiro, was acquired by XP Infra IV FIP in Infrastructure, which offered R$ 141.4 million, a premium of 0.01% . There was also no competition in this block.

The North Block II, made up of the airports of the capitals of Pará, Belém, and Amapá, Macapá, was the only one that had competition, being disputed in many bids out loud by Consórcio Novo Norte Aeroportos and by Vinci Airports. This block ended up being won by Consórcio Novo Norte, which offered a proposal of R$ 125 million, which represented a premium of 119.78%.

According to Anac, the 15 airports that were auctioned today (18) account for 15.8% of total passenger traffic in Brazil, which is equivalent to more than 30 million travelers per year.
