The Ombudsman’s Office continues monitoring to eradicate child labor


An inspection of the Pesé landfill, province of Herrera, to detect the possible presence of children there, was carried out by the Herrera regional Ombudsman’s Office together with the Provincial Commission for the Eradication of Child Labor (CETIPPAT).

During the visit, the members of said commission, whose main objective is to prevent adolescent boys and girls from entering these sites to work, were unable to detect their presence in the landfill.

Among the CETIPPAT participants were representatives of the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Family (Senniaf), the Ministry of Labor and Labor Welfare, Casa Esperanza, members of the Pesé National Police and the Herrera regional Ombudsman’s Office. Village.

Last April, the Ombudsman led an inspection of the Chitré and Pesé landfills accompanied by the Director of Specialized Units, Anna Karina Salerno, where both officials conducted interviews with ‘scavengers’ on the site.
