The New York Times includes Cuba in a list of 52 sites around the world that the American newspaper recommends to travel this year.
The publication points out that travelers they will be able to find in Cuba “sea-sprayed pastel facades, white-sand beaches, and tobacco-rich valleys” and highlights its “tempting” closeness to the United States, “even though it often feels out of reach.”

In turn, he recalls that last spring “a confluence of factors” prompted the Joe Biden administration to relax the “strict rules” established by his predecessor Donald Trump, which made it difficult for US citizens to travel to the island.
The outlet considers the resumption of American Airlines flights to other destinations outside of Havana as opportunities to get to know Cuba, and the projected increase in the frequency of other airlines.
Cuba ranks 27th in the list of recommendations, which also includes large cities such as London and Madrid, but also picturesque lesser-known places, chosen for their culture, gastronomy, adventure opportunities or natural beauty.
Among the attractions noted by The New York Times there is the generosity of Cubans, and the music, “an omnipresent and joyful soundtrack that resonates in its cities and towns.”
The review written by Lauren Prestileo specifies that traveling to Cuba and supporting its people “will never be more valuable.”
It is not the first time that the island appears on these lists of recommendations for travelers made by the New York newspaper. In 2016, the Viñales Valley also ranked 10th in a report of 52 destinations.
