With the objective of regulating fishing in Panama to be within the international order of nations and to be an example of a country, this Friday, December 9, the National Commission for Responsible Fishing was installed.
The official installation took place at a meeting chaired by the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, in the company of Flor Torrijos, General Administrator of the Aquatic Resources Authority of Panama, ARAP.
Valderram said that as a responsible country, the government, together with the ARAP team and the Panama Maritime Authority, has as a priority to guarantee compliance with responsibilities to prevent irresponsible fishing.
At the installation of the Commission, Minister Valderrama asked all its members to ensure that this resource continues to be sustainable, generating jobs and wealth in this country.
He said that another of the main objectives of the Commission is to update the regulation of the fishing law that regulates this system.
In addition, this Commission has the responsibility of recommending initiatives to achieve sustainable development of the fishing sector, as well as the policies and measures that are necessary, in order to regulate fishing activity in the jurisdictional waters of Panama.
This Commission is made up of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Security, ARAP, the Panama Maritime Authority, the Ministry of Agricultural Development and all sectors that have to do with fishing.
