Who are the Mexicles?
The cartel war in Ciudad Juárez begins with a dispute between the leader of the Juárez Cartel, Amado Carrillo, “El Señor de los Cielos”, and Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, from whose organization the cell of “Los Mexicles”, he explained to Political Expansion the expert on public security issues, David Saucedo.
“This band of ‘Los Mexicles’ was actually a gang of gang members. It was a gang of Central Americans dedicated to car theft, who were deported from the United States,” he said, pointing out that in the war for control of Ciudad Juárez, the Sinaloa cartel has been recruiting different criminal groups.
Even, he said, “many of them even have tattoos very much in the style of the Mara Salvatrucha, from El Salvador, some with Mexican-Americans, others are Mexican, but there are several gangs that are located in marginal neighborhoods of Ciudad Juárez.”
Although he said he did not know the origin of his name, Saucedo commented that the organization has become very popular and a characteristic that stands out is that they speak Nahuatl, and sometimes they communicate through this language to prevent the Mexican border police, as well as Like the trustees, listen to their talks.
“It is a very peculiar group, but it was a small-time gang that actually used revolvers, white weapons to commit crimes in each room, vehicle theft, passer-by robbery,” he said.
