“Repeat it…”is one of the words that the singer Jessi Uribe uses in each of her concerts and videos on her social networks, as a hallmark of her musical and commercial image.
In addition, one of his most notorious songs bears this same name, a song written by maestro Carlos Arturo Franco Londoño.

Apparently Paola Jara’s boyfriend was denied recognition of “Repeat it” as a brand and own label since Franco Londoño “presented an opposition against the registration requested by the singer based on the relative unregistrability and knowledge of the author of the work,” says the portal Legal Matters, specialized in the subject.
Carlos Arturo Franco Londoño, registered the musical work with the name «Repeat it» in 2015: “Since in both cases it is the same word ‘Repítela’, an unequivocal reproduction of the original title of the work,” he told the SIC.
In addition to this, the owner of a restaurant wanted to register her business as “Repeat Liquor and Food”, running the same fate as Jessi Uribe: request denied.
«The registration of the trademark is denied due to the existence of the rights of the author Carlos Franco; however, those used by the singer Jessi Uribe were not valued, “says the SIC statement.
Consequently, the Superintendence denied the registration of both Jessi Uribe and the restaurant since “the trademark lacks distinctiveness because it is identical to the one previously requested by him, ‘Repítela’ (nominative)”.
In addition, the Superintendence declared that if the request of either of the two plaintiffs had been accepted, it would conflict with the one registered by Carlos Arturo Franco.
Uribe did not accept that the restaurant be allowed to use the word “Repítela” since “consumers could be confused and believe that the restaurant named Repítela was their property.”
Finally, the SIC analyzed the restaurant’s requests and indicated that “it is similarly confusing with ‘Repítela’, as they have spelling and phonetic similarities without presenting additional elements that give them distinctiveness. In addition to that there would be a close connection in the market ».
