The National Gendarmerie of Argentina in Salta captured Luis Alfredo Yurquina Cuyabano, the man who ran over and killed the Spanish cyclist Gonzalo Frías Garcíawhich occurred on December 25.

The information was confirmed to EL DEBER unofficially by the Santa Cruz Departmental Prosecutor’s Office. The judicial authorities will offer an official conference on Thursday to give more details of the case. In addition, they will initiate the necessary procedures for the extradition of the accused.

The traffic accident occurred on Christmas Day., in the area of ​​Clara Chuchío, municipality of Warnes. The driver rammed the cyclist causing instant death. Despite the severity of the accident, the driver fled.

Surveillance cameras captured the moment. when Luis Yurquina returned to the shed where the motorized was kept. Both the vehicle and the shed belong to another person, for whom Yurquina provided services.

The videos show how he took the car out and returned it hours later with clear signs of having been in an accident.

The remains of Gonzalo Frías were transferred by their parents to Spain, after they were cremated in the Las Misiones cemetery. During the funeral, a large caravan of cyclists accompanied the journey to the crematorium and supported the family’s moments of pain.

“This is wild, anyone can have an accident, the same word says it, but leave him (Gonzalo) lying on the road; that is not human, so we hope that justice is done, ”he said crying on that occasion Teresa García, mother of the cyclist.
