The largest LEGO factory is in Mexico after expansion for 507 million dollars

Monterey, NL. LEGO Operations Mexico inaugurated its second expansion at the plant in the municipality of Ciénega de Flores, thus becoming the factory for lego group biggest in the world. The investment reached 507 million dollars.

With this expansion, LEGO will employ 1,000 more collaborators, that is, it will add 6,000 jobs.

Nancy Sánchez, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing in the Americas, of the LEGO Group, highlighted the support that the state has given them since their arrival.

“Today we celebrate an exciting achievement for our factory in Nuevo León; We are the largest LEGO Group manufacturing plant in the world. Since its opening in 2008 we have received a lot of support in the entity.

“We have amazing colleagues, a great pool of talent to recruit thanks to a strong job market and education system, as well as an industry community that works in a positive operating environment. All these characteristics of the region give us certainty to continue investing in this plant and support growth in the communities”, he highlighted.

The expansion consists of a high-rise warehouse and a decoration and assembly warehouse that together add up to more than 33,000 square meters of extension.

It should be noted that from the Ciénega de Flores facilities, the company supplies markets throughout the American continent.

For his part, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda commented: “Today with their arrival in Nuevo León they make an excellent move, LEGO has done so well in the state that we are going for the second expansion of the plant, one of the most modern, innovative and with greater development”.

“The most important news is undoubtedly this investment of 507 million dollars, which in pesos represents 10,314 million pesos. It is my management, it is the largest investment that has come to Nuevo León”, stressed the state president.

“New Leon in terms of foreign investment is first place and with this confidence and these investments, many employment opportunities will be arriving for all Neolonese,” he added.

In the first quarter of 2022, the state registered 1,105.8 million dollars of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), according to data from the federal Ministry of Economy.

It is worth mentioning that the Secretary of Economy Tatiana Clouthier participated in this event, who commented on her Twitter account: “Congratulations to the #LEGO company that opens its second stage in #NL, with an investment of 507 million dollars and 1,000 more jobs. . In addition, 90% of its suppliers are from our country”.

Contribution to build villa

On behalf of the state government and the DIF, the president thanked the company for the donations and the contribution of LEGO for the construction of a village with capacity for 20 adolescents, in the state DIF.
