This phenomenon, which is already transforming the labor landscape, poses challenges for both companies and employees. In this context, MetLife Mexico, the leading personal insurance company in the country, has presented the study “The impact of nearshoring in employee benefits trends in Mexico.” The report highlights the importance of developing strategies within companies to offer competitive benefits packages in order to retain talent and attract new employees.
During the presentation of the study, Mario Valdés, general director of MetLife Mexico, stressed the relevance of the nearshoring in business decision-making. “This study becomes an essential tool to understand how this commercial trend will affect labor dynamics and will help companies offer quality services. In addition, it will allow us to increase the financial penetration rates of Mexicans,” said Valdés.
The challenge of qualified talent
One of the main challenges for companies seeking to take advantage of the opportunities of nearshoring is the shortage of qualified talent. According to the MetLife Mexico study, which included the participation of 360 employers and 720 employees of companies located in key states for company relocation (Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Querétaro, Guanajuato and Jalisco), the lack of personnel with the right skills is one of the biggest obstacles for organizations.
