The Headquarters reports 838 new cases of Covid-19 and 11,301 vaccinated

This Friday, February 11, 838 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Santa Cruz. Of these, 790 correspond to the capital city. The epidemiological report of this day reports three patients who died of coronavirus, all men, over 60 years of age and without vaccinations.

On the other hand, 219 patients hospitalized in intensive care are registered, of which 118 are connected to a respirator. The recovered patients add up to 1,055.

This Friday, 11,301 people immunized against Covid-19 are reported in the department; more than half (6,858) are boys between 5 and 17 years old. With the number of immunized this Friday, the accumulated is 3,530,962; which means the 74% of the target population have already received their first dosewhile 61% have the full schedule and 11% have the booster dose.

Carlos Hurtado, Headquarters Epidemiology Manager, once encouraged the population to get vaccinated against Covid-19, and stated that this is not the time to celebrate, because the disease is not controlled in Santa Cruz. He referred to the uncontrolled activity in bowling alleys, bars, karaoke bars and jukeboxes in the city, where people take off their masks, do not keep the physical distance required to avoid contagion and do not disinfect their hands. In his opinion, could be the cause of a fifth wave of the coronavirus.
