The Guarani medal table was shaken this Saturday with three gold medals obtained in the men’s double tennis, swimming and women’s beach volleyball disciplines. In this way, the Paraguayan delegation that competes in the III South American Youth Games Rosario 2022 adds 4 medals at the end of the first week of competitions.
Luana Alonso once again hung a medal at the continental event for youth sports. The Paraguayan Olympian took over the 100-meter butterfly event and, in addition to reaching the finish line in first place, with a time of 1:00.13, the swimmer set a Competition Record and a New Absolute National Record.
On the fields of the Provincial Club, Daniel Vallejo and Martín Vergara stood out in an exciting final duel against their pairs from Peru, Gonzalo Bueno and Ignacio Buse, winning by a score of 2-0, leaving the board with partials of 6-2 and 6-4 favorable for Guarani tennis players.
In the men’s singles tennis modality, Vallejo settled in the final after beating Ignacio Buse from Peru. The tennis player from the Elite Deportiva Paraguay beat the Inca racket by a score of 2 sets against 0 (6-1 and 6-2) and will seek gold against the Argentine Lautaro Midon.
In mixed doubles tennis, the couple made up of Dani Vallejo and Leyla Brítez lost to the locals Lautaro Midon and Luciana Moyano in straight sets (5-7 and 5-7). Tomorrow they will have to compete for the bronze medal against the Peruvians Gonzalo Bueno and Lucciana Pérez.
At the La Rural venue, beach volleyball players Denisse Morgenstern and Fiorella Núñez managed to win the gold medal, defeating the Brazilian team in a duel developed with great solvency by the Paraguayan athletes. Denisse and Fiorella outclassed Carolina Salaberry and Nina Sichinel in straight sets 21-18 and 21-13.
At the end of the first week of competitions of the Rosario 2022 South American Youth Games, the Paraguayan Delegation already has 3 gold medals, 1 silver, 1 to be defined this Sunday (it could be gold or silver) and another in dispute (by the bronze).
