The Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, announced this Wednesday that “in the next few days” a series of “regulatory changes” will be known that allow the investment of international companies in the exploitation of gas and oil in the Vaca Muerta field.
“We are working with private sector companies and the Central Bank to articulate understandings that lead to regulatory changes. We hope to present them in the coming days”, said Guzmán at the meeting on the energy sector convened by the Institute for Business Development of Argentina (IDEA) that took place in the city of Neuquén.
Guzmán alluded to restrictions in the foreign exchange market by stating that “To facilitate direct investments (in the energy sector), capital regulations must be changed to those imposed by the previous administration in 2019”after the meager result registered in the primary elections of August by the then ruling party.
“We must take steps to normalize the regulation of capital,” stressed the minister.
