The presidential spokesperson, Gabriela Cerruti, confirmed that the Government will convene extraordinary sessions between January 23 and February 28 of this year to deal with various projects, including the impeachment trial against the Supreme Court of Justice.
Following Cerruti’s announcement, the executive formalized the measure through the Official Gazette published this Friday; with it, the Government He also presented the agenda that will be dealt with during this period in Congress.
As announced by the spokesperson, Congress must deal with a total of 27 projects, after the call to extraordinary sessions of Government. Among the proposals, a reform to the judicial system stands out to expand the number of members of the highest court.
Also, the modification of the Law of the Council of the Magistracy, the Zero Alcohol Law, the treatment of the agreement required to designate the Attorney General of the Nation, the project for the creation of national universities and, of course, the request for trial politician to the members of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
Regarding the position of the opposition, of not dealing with some of the projects, especially those promoted by the ruling party, such as the request for impeachment to the Court, Cerruti said that they expect the opposition to hold the debate in space in What must be done: Congress.
“We hope that the opposition is not irresponsible enough as it has undoubtedly been doing during this time, but there is always time to reconsider and to sit in the place of democratic dialogue that is the National Congress,” he said.
And he added: “It seems to us that the agenda is important and extensive enough for the opposition to understand that in the free democratic game and in the free game of the institutions you have to sit down to debate and not extort society by dealing only with the issues what interests them.”
The request for impeachment will be dealt with from January 26
The president of the Impeachment Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Carolina Gaillard, announced the official call to the committee to deal with the impeachment request against the Court, sent by the executivewill be done on January 26.
