In this way, Super 95 gasoline goes from 77.88 to cost 79.38 pesos, which means an increase of 1.92%. While diesel 50-S will go from 58.99 to 61.99 pesos, an increase of 5%.

The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining reported this Friday, April 29, the new values of fuels, which will come into force as of this Sunday, May 1.

“Uruguay once again mitigates the international impact on fuels. The decision seeks to cushion the rise in energy prices in the world, which had already been accelerating in 2021 and was accentuated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and is based on the intention of not encouraging additional inflationary pressures on the local economy,” said the Ministry of Industry through a statement.

The Secretary of State recalled that the Import Parity Price (PPI) that is released monthly by the Regulatory Unit for Energy and Water Services (URSEA) determined that Super 95 gasoline should increase by 3 pesos and 50S diesel should do so by almost 11 weights to align with the international reference.

“However, the Executive Branch decided that the adjustment be 1.5 pesos for gasoline and 3 pesos per liter for diesel,” said the Secretary of State.

At the same time, “the most used energy continues to be prioritized among lower-income households, by keeping the price of supergas unchanged,” the statement highlighted.

From May 1

The new rates will take effect from 00:00 on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

The government “will continue to evaluate the situation of international prices and the financial health of ANCAP, with the commitment to continue mitigating the adverse effects of the global energy crisis on Uruguayan consumers,” indicated the Ministry of Industry.
