The presidential spokesperson, Gabriela Cerruti announced that the Government advances in his request for impeachment against the Supreme Court of Justice, this, after President Alberto Fernández obtained the endorsement of the governors to formally establish the measure.
For this reason, the head of Government met yesterday with the head of the Frente de Todos, Germán Martínez, and with the president of the Impeachment Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Carolina Gaillard, to formally deliver the request for impeachment that he is promoting the executive against the highest court.
Cerruti pointed out at a press conference that the decision of the Government is historical, and that it is taken because the Court intervenes on other powers, this, in relation to the ruling issued by the highest court in favor of the City of Buenos Aires for the co-participation funds and its intervention in the composition of the Council of the bench.
“The president and the governors made the historic decision to push the impeachment trial to the Supreme Court of Justice. This is a historic decision that has to do with the seriousness of the situation, where the Court intervenes on the actions of other powers violating the Constitution“, he indicated.
He also expressed: “the Supreme Court is arbitrary and complicates people’s lives with its rulings,” while maintaining that “the Government will try to add wills in the Chamber of Deputies to get the trial to move forward.
In this sense, the spokesperson confirmed that the executive will convene extraordinary sessions during the second half of January, as they seek to expedite their complaint.
The formal call, as explained by Cerruti, will come out next week and will serve to deal, in addition to the impeachment complaint, other projects that failed to advance before the end of 2022.
Cerruti spoke of the governors who do not accompany the complaint
The spokeswoman explained what happened to the governors of Chubut, Mariano Arcioni, and of Entre Ríos, Gustavo Bordet, who in the last hours notified that they will not support the trial but that the document that the president will take to Congress appears.
“The issue of the governor of Chubut is outside the country, therefore the person who participated in the zoom and accompanied the project was the lieutenant governor at his instruction. Bordet announced that he was going to support the project, he participated in the meeting and at no time during the entire meeting did he show any other position, which is why he was included in the statement, but later he regretted it and changed his mind, everyone is free to do what they want. want,” he said.
