One year after its inauguration, the Regional Center for Telemedicine and Telehealth of Biobío (CRT Biobío) inaugurated its remodeled facilities, announcing the 10 most important milestones of its management.
The space where CRT Biobío works, corresponding to the UdeC Telemedicine Unit, was remodeled thanks to the award of the Center and had an investment of 117 million pesos, whose financing was shared between the Regional Government of Biobío and the University of Concepción.
During the tour of the remodeled facilities, the attendees participated in a connection with health technicians and professionals from Isla Santa María and Tucapel, learned about telemonitoring technologies used in telemedicine, saw the operation of the satellite antenna monitoring platforms installed by the center and learned about the radiology and telemedicine stations that the CRT Biobío offices have.
During the opening ceremony its director, Angelica Avendanoannounced the 10 most relevant milestones of CRT Biobío in its first year of execution, such as:
- The installation of Starlink® satellite antennas to improve connectivity and internet speed in: Isla Santa María, Isla Mocha, Menque and Tucapel.
- Implementation of telemedicine initiatives: Emergency Teleconsulting, Family Telehealth Telenephrology (HD) and Telegastroenterology
- Support and advice in the implementation of the Community Telehealth Room of Cesfam in the commune of Tucapel.
- The setting up of a Telehealth Laboratory on the premises of the UdeC Faculty of Medicine, a fundamental space for promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in the region in the field of telehealth.
The Regional Center for Telemedicine and Telehealth of Biobío is an initiative financed by the Regional Government of Biobío through the Innovation Fund for Competitiveness FIC – R 2021 and led by the Telemedicine Unit of the University of Concepción, in collaboration with the University Catholic of the Most Holy Conception.
The objective of this program is to improve access, coverage and opportunity for health care, through telemedicine and telehealth strategies, which are integrated into regional clinical care processes, strengthening local installed capacities and articulating the actors of the health ecosystem. digital, to positively impact the quality of life of individuals and families in the Biobío region.
