The executive committee of the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) met for more than three hours this Monday night and decided wait until this Tuesday to define what will happen with the Clausura tournament of the Professional Division, which for now is paralyzed due to the social and political conflicts in the country and especially in the department of Santa Cruz.
The head of the FBF Fernando Costa gave a press conference in La Paz and explained that It will depend on the announcements that the Bolivian president is going to make. Luis Arce, this Tuesday, to make a final decision on the future of the Clausura tournament.
“We have made the decision to wait until tomorrow (Tuesday). There is a press conference that the president of the state is going to give, we have faith and hope that in that message a solution to the civic conflict in the department of Santa Cruz can be reported and once we have that information that all Bolivians are waiting for, we will proceed to call for the reinstatement of the Superior Council of the Professional Division,” said Costa.
The president of the FBF left open the possibility that the tournament is permanently suspended and article 34 of the championship regulations is applied, distributing the prizes according to how the accumulated table is found and leaving open the debate on the issue of relegation.
“We have been receiving many calls, practically from the 16 presidents of the clubs in the Professional Division, these concerns have been raised with the executive committee and we are waiting for the press conference (by Luis Arce) and hopefully it will be resolved, Otherwise, the situation is complicated for us in Bolivian soccer. We would call to give continuity to the Superior Council of the Professional Division, in which this matter will be deliberated and dealt with with great probabilities of suspending the tournamentCostas stated.
There is also a good chance that the friendly between Bolivia and Peru, scheduled for November 19 in Santa Cruzreschedule if conflicts continue in the department of Santa Cruz.
