The deputies of all political parties, in addition to discussing the topics included on the agenda, made various interventions to honor two legislators who are retiring from parliamentary life: Iván Posadas (Independent Party) and Ope Pasquet (Colorado Party).
Posadas retires after 40 years of holding legislative positions, 10 years as councilor (1985-1995) and 30 as Deputy (1995-2025).
Pasquet also had extensive public activity as a deputy and senator, and at the government level he was Vice Chancellor of the Republic.
After the session, Melazzi said: “Ope Pasquet’s words really reached me, because I also feel that these 5 years have been a privilege to work for the Republic, to work for Uruguay, from the House of Representatives which is the heart of Democracy. It has been 5 years of a lot of work and a lot of learning. I believe that we fulfilled the mandate that the people gave us at the time, now new challenges come, we are very hopeful,” the latter following his candidacy for mayor in May 2025.
