According to the study by the consulting firm Focus Market, with the removal of subsidies in the rates of basic services, such as water, gas and electricity, and the increase in prices in cable television services, telephony, prepaid, private school, expenses, insurance , internet and streaming, the cost of family basket will increase until it reaches $283,000 per month at the end of March 2023.
The family basket includes two adults and two children of school age. Bliss basket does not include food.
Regarding electricity, the removal of subsidies in its rate will be carried out in three tranches of 20% each. If $4,500 is paid in September of the current year, $7,776 will be paid by the end of March 2023. This is the most important increase in the family basket compared to current essential services.
In the case of the gas rate, in the same period, it would go from paying $3,500 in September to $5,468 in March 2023.
In the same way, the water service will increase its value. This will cost $3,900 in March 2023 if $800 was paid in September 2022, so it will be the service of the basket which less increased.
The other increases come from the area of services that are not subsidized and, dated as of March 2023, are:
*The prepaid family for four people (an increase of 105% is expected) would culminate in $35,232.
*The Private educationwill go from $20,000 to $27,838.
*The Telephone service will increase from $3,200 to $4,450.
*Service cab (assuming one trip per week), it will cost $10,140.
*The item that would cost the most to deal with would be the rental. If $60 thousand is paid per month, this amount will rise to $114.
*Finally, the payment of expensesthey will go from $12,500 to $17,394 per month.
In addition to other minor expenses, the total amount will rise to $283,022, which is equivalent to an increase of 58.1% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The Basic Food Basket
Amid the increases in services, it should be noted that the family basket does not include the Basic Food Basket, which will amount to $52,928 according to the inflation projection.
It is expected, then, that a typical family must receive three average salaries ($94,000) to be above the poverty line and at least two Mobile Minimum Vital Wages (SMVM) to avoid falling into the indigence line.
