The National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) began a technical audit and will apply sanctions to the metropolitan distributor Edesur as a consequence of the service cuts during this month in its concession area.
In this way, the ENRE controller, Walter Martello, signed two resolutions that began the comprehensive technical audit of Edesur and the first stage of a set of sanctions that the company itself must pay for this reason, the agency said in a statement. .

Through Resolution 236/2023, the Comptroller of the Entity “determined the beginning of the process of applying a set of sanctions to the Edesur company for the effects on the electrical service during February.”
“These sanctions are added to the more than $3,772 million applied to the distributor Edesur since September 2022”highlighted the ENRE.
In this regard, it also indicated that in the first sanctioning instance, Edesur “must pay compensation to the users affected by supply cuts whose duration has been equal to or greater than 10 hours, as established by current regulations for this type of affectation, and without detriment to the sanctions that are under development”.
“Edesur must pay compensation to the users affected by supply cuts whose duration has been equal to or greater than 10 hours, as established by current regulations for this type of affectation, and without prejudice to the sanctions that are in development”
Regarding the other resolution, 237/2023, it provided for the carrying out of a Comprehensive technical audit in Edesur with the objective of determining the capacity and reliability of the public electricity distribution service and monitoring the quality of service established in the concession contract.
The ENRE specified that the task will be carried out by an interdisciplinary team led by a general coordinator, and at least three inspection teams, who will verify the processes of primary attention to claims, operation and management, corrective and preventive maintenance, investment planning, loss management, and internal cost audits.
“With this new control criterion adopted, the ENRE incorporates the power to access in real time the processes and resources that systematically lead to non-compliance with the established quality parameters, while maintaining control by results that allows sanctions to be applied for such shortcomings,” the agency explained.
Likewise, in relation to the amounts of the sanctions, they must be accredited by the company in the service invoices of the users within 20 administrative business days, from the notification of this resolution.
