The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, claimed this Monday for the co-participation resources that, he maintained, “they were torn away” from the districtand considered that the fact that Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is “persecuted and proscribed” is “worrying and inadmissible”, when delivering her speech before the Buenos Aires Legislative Assembly.

Upon opening the 151st period of ordinary sessions of the Legislature, Kicillof thanked President Alberto Fernández and the vice president for the “concrete commitment” to the district through “resources and works”, and highlighted the president’s support for the “claim before the embarrassing ruling of the Supreme Court” that said, “alludes to the resources and the rights of the people of Buenos Aires and the actions of the federal Justice”.

The governor asked all the parliamentary blocs “to work to recover the resources that were taken from the people of Buenos Aires and the 135 municipalities,” and proposed “creating a permanent commission to claim” those funds.

“The ruling of the Court of Justice, which legalizes injustice and blocks the right to development of Buenos Aires residents, is scandalous. The previous government increased them by decree without reason,” he said about the transfer of funds to the city of Buenos Aires, and added: “I ask those who aspire to govern this province to commit to this claim.”

He also affirmed that “the province lacks a good part of the resources that it produces and contributes to the co-participation system” and said that “it is up to us as a generation of leaders to recover the resources that were torn away” from the district.

The Buenos Aires president also highlighted the start of classes and the absence of teacher strikes, the success of the tourist season and repudiated the attempted assassination of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

“The assassination attempt was of an unprecedented severity that was condemned by all of society,” said Kicillof, and considered the fact that she is “persecuted and proscribed” is “worrying and inadmissible.”

On this, he added: “I cannot ignore it. It is essential for Argentine democracy that Justice condemn and punish the guilty, those who promoted and materialized this,” he added.

On the other hand, he stated that “in the province, public education once again became a priority” and that “historically the start of classes was a time of uncertainty” but that since he took office “that is over.” “This year classes began on March 1 and during these years we have not had a single day of unemployment due to provincial issues,” he claimed.

He warned today that “society is going to have to choose which path to follow”, he assured that “to govern is to expand and defend rights, not privileges”, and said that “the dilemma that this year poses will be between the right and the rights”.

“Peronism always defended the right of the future for everyone,” he said.

He urged the opposition blocks to deal with pending laws such as the repeal of the Banco Provincia pension reform, which was approved during the administration of María Eugenia Vidal and ratified that it will continue to “strengthen the social work” of the people of Buenos Aires.

He also said that they will continue to “prioritize investments in the health system” and stressed that, in a pandemic, “no Buenos Aires citizen was left without medical assistance.”

On the economic front, he specified that, “unemployment is located in 2019 at 11% and now it is at 8%”, although he was of the opinion that “this is insufficient”. “It is necessary to review redistributive policies, wages and redistribution need to be recovered,” he defined.

Referring to investment in public works, he said that “better than tweeting is doing,” he listed the hydraulic works, in terms of roads, paving, housing, sewers and drinking water that his administration is carrying out and stressed that this also generates employment and economic activity.
