The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated in a statement that the tour will take place from June 20 to 24, and although it does not specify the dates of the different stops, unofficial media assure that in the first stop of his trip the Cuban ruler will maintain tomorrow Tuesday a private meeting with Pope Francis in the Vatican.
Díaz-Canel himself assured this morning on his Twitter account that he will visit the Vatican, the Italian Republic and Serbia, where he hopes to carry out “intense days” during which he will work “to continue promoting and diversifying our ties in pursuit of the development of Cuba”.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, as well as “deputy ministers and other directors of the Foreign Ministry” will accompany the trip, the Government assured.
According to the note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Díaz-Canel will participate as President of the Group of 77 + China in the Summit for a new World Financial Pact, which will take place in Paris next Thursday and Friday.
The Cuban ruler will also carry out an official visit to Italy and “it is also planned that he will develop an official program in the Republic of Serbia,” the official note added.

Last Friday, Pope Francis was discharged from the Gemelli Hospital in Rome and returned to the Vatican after having undergone surgery for an abdominal hernia on June 7.
