The ‘corcholata’ for deputy governor of Banxico will be announced on Friday

Gerardo Esquivel, who came to the central bank in 2019, is the deputy governor who is about to finish his term in office, since he replaced Roberto del Cueto, who resigned in 2018 due to illness .

Who could fill the position?

Among the names that sound to replace Esquivel at the head of the bank are Lucía Buenrostro (sister of the head of the Ministry of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro) and Gabriel Yorio (undersecretary of Finance and Public Credit).

Buenrostro is an actuary from UNAM and has a PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick. She serves as Vice President of Regulatory Policy at the National Banking and Securities Commission.

While Gabriel Yorio, number two in the agency in charge of public finances, was head of the Public Credit Unit and in charge of the International Affairs Unit of the Treasury.
