The collective “Travesadxs por el Femicide” demanded this Wednesday justice for the victims and more public policies to eradicate murders for gender reasons that “do not go down” in Argentina, through an intervention in front of the National Congress within the framework International Women’s Day.
“Enough judging the victims”; “Let society judge you since justice did not”; “It is not a happy day because she is missing”are some of the slogans that accompanied the intervention and that also included a stall with women’s clothes of different ages to represent the victims of femicide.
“The numbers of femicides do not drop. Those numbers hurt us because we relive our own pain,” said Manuel Iglesias, a member of the group “Travesadxs por el Femicide,” who will remain with his performance until 5:00 p.m. in front of Congress.
“The figures for femicide do not go down. Those figures hurt us because we relive our own pain”Manuel Iglesias, member of “Travesadxs por el Femicide”
In dialogue with Télam, Iglesias assured that, considering the numbers, the public policies that were designed “evidently are not giving results” in the eradication of femicides.
Likewise, the members of the collective demanded justice for victims of femicide and to stop “judging” them.
For those who need accompaniment, Iglesias recalled that they can be contacted through the social networks of Travesadxs por el Femicide, in cases of femicide or any type of violence, since “everything begins with violence that grows until the most terrible arrives, the femicide”.
“We have gone through this pain and we know that we can contain it, weave networks and articulate to reach the relatives who need it”he expressed.
