On April 18, when Judge Aguirre was about to start the oral and public trial against Chilavert, who was sued for slander, defamation and libel by the president of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) Alejandro Domínguez, the former goalkeeper’s defense filed a chicane to stop the case.
With the argument that the judge was not impartial, they tried to remove him, however the Court of Appeals studied the incident and did not find sufficient elements to give it a favorable course and rejected it, confirming Judge Aguirre in the case.
The file will be sent to the court and Manuel Aguirre will set a new date for the oral and public trial. It will be seen if on this new occasion a chicane is not presented again to stop the process as Chilavert’s defense has been doing for more than a year.
This process began after Chilavert, through his Twitter account, accused Domínguez of serious acts of corruption in his management as head of Conmebol. The former goalkeeper said he had all the evidence to prove the facts, however to this day he continues to block the trial.
The entrance The chicana presented by Chilavert did not run: They confirm the judge and the former goalkeeper will go to trial was first published in diary TODAY.
