The Caribbean and Saudi Arabia Investment Forum begins in the DR

The Ministry of Investment of Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaInvest Saudi and the Association of Caribbean Investment Promotion Agencies (Caipa), with the support of the Center for Export and Investment from the Dominican Republic (ProDominican), began today in Punta Cana the Forum of Investment from the Caribbean and Saudi Arabiawith the participation of 15 delegations from different countries.

A statement indicates that the meeting aims to identify projects and investment opportunities in the nations represented through conferences and meetings, so that attendees will learn about the attractions of the Dominican Republic, as well as the countries of the region.

“Within its work agenda, it seeks to strengthen the commercial ties that unite us as a region and learn about the mechanisms of investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With the completion of the forum, the Dominican Republic shows its attractions and has the opportunity to consolidate its leadership around mechanisms to promote the region for commercial purposes”, said Biviana Riveiro, executive director of ProDominican.

Riveiro added that it is the best time to invest in the Dominican Republic. He reported that, in terms of relations with Saudi Arabiain the period 2015-2021 the exchange amounted to 101.2 million dollars and for May 2022 it increased to 117.6 million dollars, for an increase of 16.4 million dollars.

The vice president of Caipa and president of Jampro, Diane Edwards, pointed out that the forum opens a new door to investment in the region, since more than 150 businessmen and government representatives from the promotion agencies of investment, “including the ministers of Caribbean countries: Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology of Belize; Ministry of Economic Development of Curaçao; Bahamas Ministry of Economic Affairs; Ministries of Tourism and Investment From jamaica; Ministry of Tourism, Investment and Economic Development of Antigua and Barbuda”.

The head of the Delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaBadr Albadr, deputy minister of the Ministry of Investments, indicated that the forum seeks to create ties with the region and, within its responsibilities, identifies Saudi investments abroad.
