The Electoral Court (TE) made official this Wednesday the call for the general election of May 5, 2024, duly regulated by Decree 29 of May 30, 2022.
In May 2024, the President and Vice President of the Republic, 71 deputies of the National Assembly, 20 deputies of the Central American Parliament, 81 mayors, 701 corregimiento representatives and 11 councilors will be elected, for the constitutional period from July 1, 2024 to 30 June 2029.
It should be remembered that this Wednesday, June 1, the period of procedures for candidacies for free application begins. This phase will last until July 31.
President Laurentino Cortizo was present at the event, who stated: “The Electoral Court, as guarantor of the electoral process, is responsible for the process being carried out correctly, transparently, and fairly to strengthen the democratic system. As the Executive Body, our responsibility is to guarantee the resources for the development of the General Plan of Elections”.
