Parliamentarians entered the Senate on Wednesday the constitutional reform project that contains an “Agreement for Chile” and that gives rise to a process to approve a new Constitution.
Specifically, it is a formula that will be included in two bills, which will later be consolidated. By going through the added account of the Senate, the beginning of the new process was enabled.
It is a “mirror reform” so that senators and deputies could stamp their signature on the trades.
In short, there will be an elected Constitutional Council with 50 representatives and a Committee of Experts with 24 people appointed by the Senate. All with input and output gender parity, ideally 25 men and 25 women; in addition to 12 men and 12 women, respectively.
Each one of the members of the Council will receive 3 million 600 thousand pesos as remuneration. Those of the committee of experts close to 1 million 800 thousand pesos and 611 thousand pesos for the referees per session.
The president of the PS, Paulina Vodanovic, detailed the calendar set after conversations with Servel: “February 14 is the registration of candidacies; on March 14 the campaign; while on May 14 the elections. The experts leave on March 6, they will have 3 months to finish their work. The elect are proclaimed on June 14 approximately.
