National deputies of the Front of All assured this Thursday that “the Argentine people do not need adjustment” and accused the leadership of Together for the Change of “attack the government” to “condition it in the negotiation in favor of foreign interests”.
The deputies, belonging to different social movements, reaffirmed their support for the efforts carried out by the national government before the International Monetary Fund (IMF), whom they considered “co-responsible” for the “magnitude” of the loan taken by the government of Mauricio Macri.
“From the social movements, the sectors of workers, from the youth, women and diversities and from the organized people as a whole, we want to express our firm support for the government of the Frente de Todos, for the president Alberto Fernandez already the vice president Cristina Kirchnerin this historic battle that is being waged against the enemies of Argentine interests and the well-being of our people,” they assured.
The press release bears the signatures of Juan Carlos Alderete (Classist and Combative Current), Veronica Caliva (Party of Labor and People-Salta), leonardo grosso (Avoid movement), Natalia Souto (Somos-Barrios de Pie) and Eduardo Tonielli (Avoid movement).
In the text, entitled “the Argentine people do not need an adjustment”, the FDT legislators considered that “The IMF is co-responsible for this situation” and they pointed out that “we will not allow an agreement that has negative consequences on employment, production and the well-being of our people.”
After affirming that the loan taken by the Macri government “is the largest in the history of the IMF,” they warned that this amount “compromises the future of several generations of Argentines.”
“The size of the loan, the policy of surcharges, the lack of agreement of the National Congress and what is more obvious, the destination of the money, not a single work was made, it was destined for financial scams, they only reaffirm the level of illegality with which such a scam was carried out against the Argentine people“, they asserted.
In that sense, the legislators considered that “unfortunately this is not the exception that confirms the rule, we just have to go back a little in our history to see the behavior of the IMF”.
Thus, they stated that the international organization “He was part of those who financed the Military Coup of 1976, promoted the Menemist privatizations, weakened democratic governments to direct public policies” and “when it succeeded, it ended, in turn, with the governments and our people turned upside down.”
“If one thing is clear from history, it is that the true objective of the Fund is condition the economic policy of our countryof the countries, to be able to subordinate ourselves to the interests of theirs,” the legislators affirmed in the statement.
The national deputies also recalled that in 2005, during the government of Nestor Kirchner“the entire debt with the IMF was paid” and they argued that this fact “allowed them to get rid of this conditioning by gaining economic independence and sovereignty.”
“There came moments of economic recovery, social justice and expansion of rights,” they stressed and affirmed that “under no point of view do we believe that the Fund has any type of intention other than the previous ones.”
For legislators, “it is essential reaffirm with strong sovereign conviction that our country comes first and that the debt is with our people” and they maintained that “the priorities of the Argentine economy today must be national production and job creation, responding to hunger, poverty, unemployment and the great emergencies that we have.”
Also, they considered that “The political opposition, which contracted this debt, and the sepoy economic power, do not stop attacking the government to condition it in the negotiation in favor of foreign interests” and they warned that “for this they use all the resources they have and distribute lies of chaotic scenarios without any responsibility.”
