The ANMAT (National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology) reported this Tuesday that the production and marketing of two well-known brands of olive oil is prohibited.
As notified the organismthe products lacked health records and were falsely labeled, which is why the ANMAT considers them illegal and demanded that their sale be discontinued.
The ANMATin addition, notified that the oils were not safe for consumers, since by not having manufacturing data they represent: “a risk to the health of the population”, since the quality, safety and efficacy of the food cannot be guaranteed .
In this sense, one of the brands that the control entity prohibited is San Juan Oliva oil in presentations of 250 cm³, since they had incomplete information on their labels.
The provision states that “the production, fractionation and marketing throughout the national territory of the products Extra Virgin Olive Oil – First Cold Press and Balsamic Vinegar, both under the San Juan Oliva brand, produced and packaged by Campo de Olivos SA is prohibited.” ”.
The measure applies to the aforementioned oils “in any presentation, batch and expiration date, for lacking health records and being falsely labeled, turning out to be illegal products.”
Consequently, by not being able to guarantee the quality of said products, they may represent a risk to the health of consumers, for which their use in the domestic market is suspended.
