The Mammoth Museum has been one of the most talked about and anticipated AIFA venues because of how it came about.

When the excavations to build the airport began, the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), in charge of being present in all the great infrastructure works, discovered more than 40,000 bones.

Among the findings there were 480 remains of mammoths (with two almost complete bodies), 100 camels, 40 American horses, among other species. So President Andrés Manuel López Obrador decided to create a museum for his exhibition.

Together with the institute they created the Paleontological Museum of Santa Lucía Quinametzin. The property has 4,166 meters of construction where, throughout six rooms, a review is given of the life of the Columbian mammoths that inhabited the area and the possible reasons why their bones were found there.

With the idea that it is suitable for the entire public and encourages interaction with minors, in all the exhibitions technology is combined with more traditional methods to explain what is shown.

In the building there is a theme garden where there are life-size sculptures of the species found and exhibited. And in order not to neglect the new digital tools, the venue has a virtual reality room in which a game with information will be available, as well as a 4k projection room.

It has not yet been determined what access will be for people or if the museum will have any cost, but the facilities are 94% complete in construction.
