The days before April 24, 1965 They were of great expectation for those who were involved in the movement of return to the Constitution without elections, promoted by Juan Bosch, the Dominican Revolutionary Party and a group of military who responded to the call of the country, for the construction of democracy and respect for human rights. He didn’t want anything else.
The postponed and never carried out destroyed that brought to the courts to the guilty of crimes and crimes were not persecuted. They were the bregas and the reveals “for conquering the freedom that my generation, civil and military, I did not know. Nothing more, but nothing less.”
Everything was planned with zeal, care and military knowledge, also worked serene, conscientiously and patiently, the adhesion of hundreds, of thousands of people of all social classes that supported the Constitutionalist movement.

That is why it was not a coincidence, not a touch of cornet in the shadow, that thousands of Dominicans took to the streets to shout the slogans:Juan Boschpresident! and constitution without elections!
There was, then, a great discontent against the government between civilians and different military lodges pressed for having the command and canonjias that derived from corruption in the ranks; For example, airplanes that imported appliance equipment and all kinds of home furniture and landed at military airports without customs control and the creation of a company National Police, CXAto import fine drinks and faces without paying tariffs.
Initially, the movement was backed by the main barracks of the country, until the voice of the hemisphere was heard which shouted: communism! From that moment on, their well -trained disciples obeyed the orders of a Yankee military aggregate and bombarded part of the city, sent hundreds, probably thousands of troops, war tanks and the Navy shot at the National Palace.
The people faced and defeated the thousands of troops, the bombings of the Navy and the ametrallalas of aviation, with stoicism, unmatched value and unwavering decision, to which the military responded by calling the Yankees to take the chestnuts from the fire.
There began the civil war, turned into a homeland, when the Yankees sent thousands of their best trained and armed troops and the best ranked general, to support the military who then played the role of an occupation army paid by their own people.
At the rhythm of gunshots and negotiations, where betrayal, lie and deception were present all the time. The Yankees drowned the movement, maintained the ignorance of the Constitution of 1963 and faced the resistance, value and moral recueled of the heroic representatives of the Dominican people.

The April War shook world conscience and cracks the political unanimity of the continent, since several countries did not follow the Yankees guidelines in the organization of American States.
Nationally, the Creole military understood and recalled that this is the country of “a Pescozá, a Puñalá” and society imposed respect for the results of the national elections, as the only legitimate source of power.
