The Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) validated the guidelines for qualified self-assignment in indigenous matters, that is, the protocol to ensure that whoever registers to contest as belonging to an ethnic group really is.
Morena challenged the rules prepared by the National Electoral Institute, by order of the TEPJF, whose objective is to avoid fraud in indigenous self-assignment.
The complaining party considered that the guidelines lack the proper foundation and motivation in terms of the scope of application and that they failed to establish mechanisms for alternation and protection of personal data.
In another ruling, the superior chamber revoked the determination by which the INE removed members of the general council of the Morelense Institute of Electoral Processes and Citizen Participation. The approved project indicates that there was no negligence nor was it evidenced clear and specific affectation
to constitutional principles in electoral matters.
The INE had removed three counselors by assuring that they unjustifiably delayed electoral court rulings and unduly handed over prerogatives to the Morelos Social Encounter party.
In another matter, the upper chamber determined that the Labor Party (PT) made invisible
their candidates for municipal presidencies in the Durango election last year, and therefore committed gender-based political violence by not identifying the position for which they were running.
With the foregoing, it failed to comply with the communicative effect of transmitting to the public that the party nominates candidates for a position of popular election and encourage their participation.
Although the criterion of political violence based on gender is confirmed, the responsibility and sanctions that the specialized chamber had imposed on the representative of the PT were revoked.
