Tena, new coach of Guatemala after being the dismissal of Pinto

The Colombian Jorge luis pinto said this friday that did not reach an agreement with the Guatemalan Football Federation to direct that selection by differences for the conformation of the technical body.

This was reported by Pinto on social networks in which he thanked the Guatemalan leaders for their interest in him directing that Central American team that will be directed by the Mexican Luis Fernando Tena.

“Me gratitude to the president (Gerardo) Paiz and the Executive Committee of the Guatemalan Football Federation for having taken me into account to direct the national team, unfortunately we did not reach an agreement on the coaching staff, “explained the strategist.

Pinto managed to lead Costa Rica to the quarterfinals at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and he had a stint in Honduras, so he knows very well the environment of the North, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation (Concacaf) and that is why he was a strong candidate to lead Guatemala.

Guatemalans reported today that Had, Olympic champion with Mexico in London 2012, is the el new coach.

The 63-year-old Tena will take the reins of his second national team, after his successful passage through the Mexican team under 23, between 2011 and 2013, when he won gold in the Pan American Games (2011) and in the Olympic Games (2012), as well as a brief step also in 2013 for the Mexican national team.

Tena replaces fellow Mexican Rafael Loredo, who on an interim basis led Guatemala in this year’s Gold Cup, with losses to El Salvador and Mexico, as well as a draw against Trinidad and Tobago.
