Since Tuesday, August 16, the Telecommunications and Transportation Authority (ATT) will control with 100% of its staff that Supreme Decree (DS) 4669 is complied with that prohibits telephone companies from automatically deducting the credit balance when the megabytes to surf the internet run out.

Nestor Rios, executive director of the ATT, indicated that, starting at 00:00 hours this Tuesday, August 16, the control and supervision of the telephone companies will be carried out. To this end, he stressed that 100% of the personnel of the ATT will be deployed on a national scale.

Ríos argued that the state Entel and the private companies Viva and Tigo that operate in Bolivia, if they do not comply with the regulations, promulgated in February in order to take care of the users’ pockets, they will be punished.

He noted that currently one of those telephone companies offers a package of 200 megabytes for Bs 2, but when that promotion ends or its validity of 24 hours ends, the price of the same number of megabytes is Bs 35, that is automatically consumed from the user’s main credit, without their consent; that is, 17 times more expensive.

The authority explained that, with the validity of the decreewhen the balance is about to expire and reaches 150 megabytes, the user must receive a first notification; and, a second, when it drops below 50 megabytes.

Those who are affected with a discount without being notified in advance they may file their respective complaint with the ATT through the free line 800-10-6000 or the chATTbot 715-33208 (WhatsApp).

Additionally, the ATT will consult the users of telephone companies if they were informed about this benefit.
