Between 2018 and 2023, the Technological University of Chocó (UTCH) increased its coverage by 41%, according to the balance presented by David Emilio Mosquera Valencia, rector of the only public institution of higher education in the department.
The rector said that the opening of new undergraduate academic programs stands out, such as Psychology, Social Communication and Journalism, Early Childhood Education, Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences, Industrial Engineering, Tourism and Hotel Administration, and Public Accounting. As regards postgraduate courses, Master’s in Engineering, Master’s in Public Law and Specialization in Administrative Law programs were created.
The University assumed the commitment of institutional accreditation. Thus, it has been possible to have a high-quality accredited program and six that are in the process of evaluation before the National Accreditation Council.

Regarding scientific research, the rector Mosquera Valencia highlighted the growth in the number of groups, which went from 15, in 2017, to 31 at present, recognized and classified by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Teaching excellence also stands out, with more than 45 professors with doctoral degrees and 35 who are pursuing postgraduate studies in the country and abroad.
The entity has 38 classrooms with interactive screens and, in partnership with the Government of Chocó, it is expected to implement 44 more screens, to cover 82% of classrooms.
