Teachers unions define today the return to classes and settlement of the strike

The bases of the different teaching unions in the country will meet this Monday to decide on the return to classes starting this Tuesday, after last Saturday, July 30, the single dialogue table reached 100% of the consensus on the subject. educational.

In the assemblies, the leaders will take to the bases the proposal to resume classes starting this Tuesday, August 2, with extended school hours until December 30. There will be no school break for the remainder of the year. While the first week of 2023 (From January 2 to 6), will be reinforcement and graduations.

Educators who have been unemployed for more than 25 days, proposed at the dialogue table, among other situations, the allocation of 6% of GDP for the education sector.

However, at the single dialogue table, whose sessions are held in the city of Penonomé, in the province of Coclé, it was agreed with government officials to allocate 5.5% of GDP for the 2023 budget and 6% of GDP for education in the 2024 budget.

It was also agreed to modify an article of Decree 429 that regulates the Public Procurement Law for a better use of the Fund for Equity and Quality of Education (FECE); and set up an educational table, on Saturday, August 13, 2022, with all the actors in the education sector to strengthen the roadmap of the commitments of the Dialogue for Education and the Strategic Plan 2019-2024.

The education issue concluded with 21 consensuses, that is, 100% of the points raised by educators.
