Teachers grouped in the Union of Workers for Education of Río Negro (Unter) began this Wednesday a fast in rejection of the salary proposal of a 22% increase for the third quarter of the year, which was ratified by the government at the joint meeting held this Tuesday.
“Yesterday we saw that the provincial government does not want to move forward in resolving the conflict and is betting on delaying time and confronting this union,” he said Wednesday in statements to the press. Unter’s general secretary, Sandra Schieroni.
Meanwhile, the parity negotiation between the provincial government and the Unter went to an intermediate room until Tuesday of next weekas indicated.
At a press conference held in the so-called “Teaching Dignity Tent” that has been in place for a week Installed in front of the Río Negro Government House, the trade union organization reported the beginning of a fast of protest and confirmed that the strike that had been announced for next week remains suspended thanks to the mandatory conciliation established in the conflict.

In this sense, Schieroni indicated that, a week after this instrument was established, the provincial government ratified in a meeting held last Tuesday its offer of a 22% increase, which was branded as “lack of respect” by the of the Unter.
The negotiation
The unionist said that, in that meeting, Unter called for -among other points- “the automatic updating of the mobility concept”which is a joint agreement approved since May 10 and is not being fulfilled.
In this context, he explained that according to decree 530, The Government pays teachers the value of a liter of super gasoline at $76, when the price has already exceeded $100.
Also, the union requested that the regularization of the tenures of teaching positions, which were discussed for the last time on July 13 and, from that moment, the provincial Ministry of Education did not promote any action to guarantee the contests that were to be held in August and September.
As reported, Unter also proposed the repeal of Resolution 4969, which ordered “the suspension of institutional conferences” and questioned the extension of class days until December 31, considering that it is “a punishment for education workers.”
Schieroni announced that the union is going to denounce the provincial Labor Minister, Jorge Stopiello, for alleged breach of the duties of a public official.
“Yesterday it was demonstrated by their lack of response to our requests. We are going to file a complaint with the criminal prosecution for the crime of breach of duties as a public official. We rejected the joint negotiation with the union Unter went to an intermediate room until Tuesday next week, at a time to be determined by the Provincial Labor Ministry,” he said.
