During this day, the Superintendency of Pensions alerted its users to the circulation of a fraudulent email that refers to a withdrawal of funds from the AFPs.
The warning was made through a statement where it is ensured that it is an email that contains an attachment, where the following message is indicated to the users: “According to your instructions, we have initiated the management of withdrawal of the 10% of your AFP savings account“.
It should be noted that the email contained their logos and those of the Government of Chile, therefore they supplanted the identity of the Superintendency.
According to the agency, the fraud -which was identified by the Government’s Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIR)- would be a phishing with malwarethat is, messages that often contain links to malicious websites or infected attachments.
It is important to note that the government entity “does not send emails related to fund withdrawal efforts, but rather it is the affiliates or beneficiaries who, in due time, already expired, had to carry out the processes on the respective platforms enabled for it.” .
In this context, they made a call to “be suspicious of this type of email and not to open links or attachments” adding that “this service reiterates the importance of always being informed through official channels, both from the Superintendency and from fund managers of pensions”.
