Summary of the first day of the Youth Baseball Championship 2023

Bocas del Toro 3 – 0 West
In Changuinola, the good work of the right-hander Jorge Quiel led the Tortugueros to a victory of 3 runs to 0 over Occidente in a commitment that was played at the Calvin Byron.

The game was lost by Aaron Otero who worked 1.0 innings, with 7 runs, 5 of them clean and took the defeat.
Coclé made 4 runs in the same first inning, 3 in the second, 1 in the third, 6 in the fifth and 4 in the sixth to seal the commitment by bulking up runs. Darién made his only run in the bottom of the first inning and added 4 hits throughout the game.
For the “Red Firewood” stood out Joaquín Gamba 6-4 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, Enrique Agrazal 4-2 with 6 RBIs, including a home run with a bases full and 2 runs scored, Luis Escudero 5-2, Iverson Allen 3-1 with 3 walks and Bryant Sarmiento 4-1.
For the Darién team, Lex Lau from 1-1 and Jean Suarez from 1-1, were the most outstanding.

West 15 -5 Colon
The West Panama Cowboys opened their participation in the LIV National Youth Baseball Championship, Caja de Ahorros Cup with a resounding 15-5 victory over Colón, in a game played this Friday night at the Horacio Mena de Chame stadium.
Juan Reyes opened the commitment for the Vaqueros and comfortably worked 3.0 innings, then Oscar Velez walked 2.0 innings and scored the win. Carlos Maldonado, the manager of Oeste, used five pitchers to get the victory without problems.
The West, which sounded 17 cannon shots, had its best hitter in Alfredo Alderete, going 3-3 with 3 RBIs, Juan Caballero 4-3, Adrian Saavedra 3-3 and Jean Rodríguez 4-2.

Jay Wood went 2-for-5 with an RBI, Roberto Acosta 5-2 with 3 RBIs and Luis Montenegro 5-2 with 2 RBIs were the best for Panama East, who racked up 11 hits and 1 defensive error.
Metro started winning the game until the top of the fifth, when Panama Este responded with 6 scores and turned the game around. The metropolitans had 11 hits with 1 error and their best hitters were Dimás Oda 4-2 and Omar Reluz 4-2.
The right-hander Joel González, third of four pitchers used by manager Sixto Garibaldo, wins the game and the left-hander Cristopher Cuevas loses.

Chiriquí beats Veraguas at home

The rookie manager Xavier Tapia opened his new career with an important victory of 6 runs for 1 over Veraguas in a match that was played at the Kenny Serracín stadium in the city of David.
The Indios de Veraguas won the match 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Chirican troops were able to react offensively. Right starter Javier Reina opened the game and walked 5.1 good innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, and striking out 11 chiricanos, but he was credited with the defeat.
